A community group (with true diverse representation*see below) dedicated to enlightening society about indigenous issues within the coast salish, interior salish and all indigenous territories within B.C, Canada and the rest of Turtle Island. (the group founded within the occupy vancouver movement to address the lack of indigenous involvement)
Until we acknowledge the history of the colonization of coast salish, interior salish and the rest of indigenous territories across B.C, Canada, as well as the rest of Turtle Island (known as north america) – we are doomed to repeat it, and there will be no healing.
This group was started by elders.
Please show respect for them and the issues this group represents.
*true diverse representation – LGBT2IQ / mixed race / status / non status / disability / class, etc… we believe strongly in equality and social justice for all beings, as well as anti oppression principals and policy. (basics of anti oppression – roadmap to equality through understanding: http://wiki.freegeekvancouver.org/article/What_is_Anti-Oppression%3F http://opirg.ca/ao/

“We, three active members of the OV Indigenous Solidarity Network group have decide to leave this group. This is due to some serious miscounducts of a single member causing the withdrawal of our active First Nations elder mentor. At this point there is only 1 remaining member of the ISN group. We would like OV to know that we are no longer responsible for any statements emanating from ISN and that the voice of ISN shall not be taken as a group voice. In addition, the ISN Vision & Mission statement were created as part of the collective effort and work of past members and therefore cannot be used by any single member for individual purposes, or be represented as the work of a single individual.”
